Lionel Messi’s freekick goal against chile now makes him the player with the highest number of free kick goals in the world with 57 free kick goals surpassing Cristiano Ronaldo at 56.
Messi, made contact with his left foot and curved the ball perfectly to place it in the left corner and left Chile goalie Claudio Bravo on the ground after he failed to defend it.
The free kick goal which was scored in the 33rd minute, made a total of 73 goals in his 151 Argentina appearances.
The match ended in a draw as Chile answered in the 57th minute when Eduardo Vargas landed a header the bottom right corner.
The group stage continues on Friday when Chile plays Bolivia at 5 p.m. ET and then Argentina will face Uruguay the same day at 8 p.m. ET on the second day of group stage games.
